The Ladies European Tour arrives in Saudi Arabia for the second tournament of the season, the first of the six sponsored by Aramco, and also the richest on the circuit, excluding majors, with a prize purse of five million dollars.

From February 15th to 18th, the Aramco Saudi Ladies International Presented by PIF will take place in Riyadh over 72 holes. Among those competing will be Alessandra Fanali, coming off an excellent performance (2nd place) in the Magical Kenya Open, and Virginia Elena Carta making her debut in 2024.
On the Riyadh Golf Club course, the field features names of several players who also compete on the LPGA Tour. Among them are English players Charley Hull and Georgia Hall, the 2022 winner, Spain’s Carlota Ciganda, India’s Aditi Ashok, who finished second last year behind the absent Lydia Ko from New Zealand, Sweden’s Linn Grant, South Africa’s Ashleigh Buhai, the USA’s Lexi Thompson, Japan’s Ayaka Furue, and Thailand’s Ariya Jutanugarn, all considered favorites.
However, there are numerous opponents capable of aiming for significant roles, such as Thailand’s Trichat Cheenglab, the leader of the 2023 order of merit, the Netherlands’ Anne Van Dam, Germany’s Esther Henseleit, Sweden’s Johanna Gustavsson, Spain’s Ana Pelaez Trivino, and England’s Gabriella Cowley. Also, attention is drawn to 19-year-old newcomer Shannon Tan, the only athlete from Singapore to have earned a LET card and who secured victory in her first tournament last week in Kenya.
Alessandra Fanali, who achieved her best professional result on the circuit after having already been a runner-up as an amateur in the Ladies Italian Open in 2022, has started her second season on the tour in the best possible way with promising prospects. This comes after her rookie year, where she frequently stood out, obtaining five top-ten finishes and a team victory (Aramco Team Series Riyadh, which will be replicated from November 1st to 3rd).
Virginia Elena Carta will be making her 45th appearance. She comes off a 2023 with ups and downs but still positive, with three top-ten finishes in individual competitions and two in team events. This marks her third full year on the LET, where she has consistently shown solid gameplay.
