WWE KING & QUEEN OF THE RING LIVE BLOG & MATCH COVERAGE

No lyrics today, y’all.

As always you know I like to take some time on these Saudi shows to spotlight the intolerance of the regime towards queer folks like myself, but this time I’m taking a little bit of a left turn, and not least because elements of our own government here in the United States have become almost as hostile, to the point where people like me are being advised to avoid traveling to entire states.

It’s very easy to start feeling like everywhere sucks and there’s nothing to be done but to sit and watch the walls close in, and it’s true— just about everywhere on the planet right now sucks for queer folks in general and trans folks in specific. Conservative politicians everywhere have latched onto spreading fear and hate about us as a means to gain or maintain power.

So if the world oppresses us, where do we find peace? We find it in each other, of course. The world is falling down around us but my world is full of joy and love, and since the last time we had one of these shows, my wife and girlfriend and I have now been living together for almost six months now, and it has been absolutely wonderful.

In the end, all we really have is each other, and there’s nothing you can do but hold on and try to love as much as you can.

On with the show!

Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill (c) vs. Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell (WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship)

Cargill and Hartwell to start, Jade shoves her down, Karelin lift blocked, back elbow ducked, Indi goes for a crossbody and it gets countered into a fallaway slam! Tag to Belair, scoop and a slam, assisted handspring splash and Hartwell runs to tag LeRae in! Candice slides in, Bianca dodges, blocks a satellite DDT attempt right into a gutbuster!

Belair with shoulder thrusts, whip reversed, boot up, military press, LeRae slips out and tags Indi in! Heels targeting Bianca’s injured knee, quick tags, double-teams, corners cut, and the heat segment rolls on until she lunges for a tag to Cargill! Big spinebuster on Candice, Stinger Splashes on both women, a biel sends LeRae across the ring!

A double-stack Stinger Splash, Liger Bomb… CANDICE BREAKS IT UP! Hanging inverted DDT / moonsault combination… NOT ENOUGH! LeRae tags back in, missile dropkick, tag to Belair. Chop block on Candice, a taste of her own medicine, wheelbarrow DDT / German suplex combination… IT’S OVER!

Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill win by pinfall with a wheelbarrow DDT / German suplex combination on Candice LeRae, retaining the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

The show opens with the usual summarizing video package.

Becky Lynch (c) vs. Liv Morgan (WWE Women’s World Championship)

Shoving match breaks down, waistlock, standing switch, Lynch with a takedown. Big boot takes Morgan out, off the ropes, shoulder block, action to the floor, Liv takes her back in but Becky cuts her off with uppercuts and a rolling solebutt in the ropes! Up top, Morgan trips her back down, cover for two!

Back and forth, Liv with a lariat, dropkick in the ropes, another nearfall. Lynch back elbow, Liv trips her up again and covers her for two! Trading forearms, O’Connor roll, Morgan bounces off the turnbuckles! Double lariats, both women down and out! Back on their feet, hammer and anvil, Becky getting fired up!

Corner forearm, exploder suplex, up top, Morgan cuts her off. Lynch shoves her down, missile dropkick… NO DEAL! Dis-Arm-Her denied, big right hand from Liv, Codebreaker follows… NOPE! Morgan stringing it together, Oblivion blocked, Becky counters into an inverted DDT, cover for two!

Lynch fired up, Manhandle Slam reversed, victory rolls traded, sidestep a boot, step-up knee strike from Liv… STILL NO! Huge right hands from Morgan, springboard countered, Danielson Special from the champion in the middle of the ring but Liv rolls it into a cover! Rings of Saturn applied, Becky rolls into a cover, no good!

Back to the Rings of Saturn, Lynch rolls through, Dis-Arm-Her applied, Morgan popping her hips and trying to swing herself around into a cover and Dominik Mysterio is here! Liv manages to get a foot on the ropes, Codebreaker counters the Manhandle Slam… SO CLOSE! Up top, Becky Lynch superplex, Dominik slides a chair in for Becky!

Up on the apron for the distraction, but Liv rushes in, DDT on the chair! Oblivion for good measure…

Liv Morgan wins by pinfall with Oblivion, becoming your new WWE Women’s World Champion.

“Big” Bronson Reed vs. Chad Gable vs. Sami Zayn (c) (WWE Intercontinental Championship)

Zayn taking it to Gable out the gates, Reed steps in and runs him over and chops Gable hard into the corner before military pressing him! Chad slips out, rolls to the floor, Bronson’s reign of terror continues targeting Sami. Gable up top, missile dropkick sends Reed flying! Chad whips Sami across, back body drop to the floor, sending Big out there too, Zayn off the ropes… TOPE CON GIRO WIPES BOTH OF THEM OUT!

Sami and Bronson jockeying for position in the turnbuckles, sunset flip powerbomb from the champion… NOPE! Reed takes control, gets Sami into position, up top… BIG BRONSON WITH A MOONSAULT BUT NOBODY’S HOME! Gable moonsaults onto Reed… SAMI BREAKS IT UP!

Chad with an ankle lock on the champion, Zayn crawling, reaching, Gable pulls him back to center and grapevines the leg! Reed comes over, Chad picks his leg into an ankle lock! Sami grabs one of Gable’s legs for an ankle lock of his own! He lets go when Bronson comes over, Blue Thunder Driver… SO CLOSE!

Reed stacks both of ‘em up, double Samoan drop! Sami gets him in the corner, charging in, Gable grabs a waistlock mid-charge, rolling German suplexes as “You suck!” chants rise back up! Zayn reverss, rolling German suplexes of his own, Reed comes over with his own waistlock, Gable standing switch… DOUBLE GERMAN SUPLEX!

Chad calls for Otis, Otis clotheslines Bronson on the floor and Gable throws Sami out for him as well! Referee Shaun Bennett is powerless to take action in a three-way, Dozer fights with himself while Zayn wobbles and the Olympian comes down to hold Sami up for him! Dozovic pacing, head of steam, he can’t let himself hit Sami Zayn!

Gable berates him for not listening to him, shoves him, Otis gets in his face, Chad calls him an idiot and slaps him! Gable holds Sami up again, Dozer charges in, Zayn ducks and Gable goes down! Back inside, Reed is in the corner…

Sami Zayn wins by pinfall with a Helluva Kick on Bronson Reed, retaining the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

Post-match, Gable fumes at Otis while Sami celebrates with the crowd.
