2023 French Open runner-up Karolina Muchova is keeping a positive spirit in her wrist surgery recovery as the 27-year-old Czech highlighted on Instagram that she is hoping this remains her first and only surgery.
After months of struggling with wrist injury and being sidelined since the US Open, Muchova announced on Tuesday that the doctors determined surgically addressing her issue was the best and only solution. Over the weekend, world No. 10 Muchova was answering some fan questions on Instagram when a fan asked her if this was the first surgery of her career.
“Is this your first surgery? Praying for your recovery,” a fan wrote to Muchova. In her response to the fan, the 27-year-old Czech wrote back: “First and I hope last one too.”

Another fan asked Muchova how she has been doing since having surgery. Answering the question, Muchova said she is actually doing pretty well and giving her best to use this situation for some quality time and activities she usually can’t do because of a loaded and demanding WTA calendar.

Muchova had a successful wrist surgery
After concluding her US Open run in the semifinal stage, Muchova said she would take some time to address her wrist injury before returning to action. But then, Muchova ended up missing the 2023 WTA Finals and also this year’s Australian Open. Since Muchova’s wrist definitely wasn’t progressing as targeted, the doctors seemingly came to the conclusion that it could only be fixed via surgery.
“Wrist upgrade: completed! Rehab challenge? Accepted,” Muchova announced on Instagram on Tuesday.
“Following my injury at the US Open and an extensive rehabilitation phase, it turned out that a medical intervention was necessary. So here I am, tired and sad, but I know I’ll be okay now. The surgery was successful and I’m gonna do all I can to see you on the court again soon.”

For now, the main thing for Muchova is to make a full and successful recovery from her wrist surgery.
