Jim Ross returns to AEW Dynamite tonight

AEW Dynamite

For the past several weeks, AEW television has been without the voice of legendary wrestling announcer Jim Ross. The 71 year old has been dealing with health issues for the past several years, many of them related to a leg wound he’s had since getting radiation treatments for skin cancer in 2021.

One of the reasons doctors believe the wound hasn’t healed is due to airplane travel, which is why JR hasn’t been on the road with AEW. But Ross doesn’t need to fly to make the town Dynamite will be in this week, since they’re in his beloved home state of Oklahoma.

Tony Schiavone announced in the latest AEW Control Center video that that means JR will return tonight (Weds., Dec. 20) in Oklahoma City:

“Come join us for some great action in the Continental Classic and more including welcoming back JR. That’s right, Jim Ross will be with us tonight in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City, of course.”

AEW’s Continental Classic tournament has been great, and it would have been too bad if it wrapped up without at least a little commentary from wrestling’s most well-known voice. Having him back will make a nice early Christmas present — for him, as well as for us.
