Jannik Sinner ever closer to overtaking Novak Djokovic in the Ranking Atp

on

Jannik Sinner continues his incredible run in 2024. The Italian tennis player – ranked number 2 in the world – has 28 wins and 2 losses in the season and has also reached the quarterfinals at the Mutua Madrid Open, Masters 1000, which we are facing these days. The player from San Candido won in three sets against the former world number 8, Karen Khachanov, who nevertheless put in an excellent performance. The Russian won the first set, while Sinner – who had been struggling with physical problems in the last few days – responded strongly and won another match of this season. Great serve, excellent strokes and an Italian who seems to be getting closer and closer to first place in the ATP rankings. Now the number one Novak Djokovic is very near on the Ranking Atp.

Sinner could soon become number one, and it will be interesting to see when that happens. This news is eagerly awaited, as Sinner would be the first Italian to achieve this result and now Jannik make history. Sinner made at least 200 points on the absent Novak Djokovic and can do even better here in Madrid. The Italian tennis player could therefore overtake Djokovic in Rome or at most at Roland Garros, where the Serb will be defending last year’s title and the Blue has only a few points to defend. Generally Sinner doesn’t have many points to defend on clay, while Djokovic has several titles to defend in recent weeks.

The Italian tennis player has often struggled on this surface, but this year he seems to be winning everywhere, also on the clay. His numbers are becoming increasingly important and a win in the quarter-finals would see him pass the 9000 point mark in the ATP rankings. Incredible numbers for Italy and for Italian tennis as a whole, Djokovic is getting closer.
