The Denver Broncos finally have a talented signal caller who has a shot to become their franchise quarterback.

Good morning, Broncos Country.

The Denver Broncos are a much better team now than they were a week ago prior to the 2024 NFL Draft. They added talent on both sides of the ball—but most importantly—they found themselves a potential franchise quarterback with the selection of Bo Nix in the first round.

Some analysts have hated the selection, but it appears most fans across Broncos Country are lining up behind the rookie quarterback. Many hope he can become what the franchise has been searching for since Peyton Manning retired after Super Bowl 50—a player capable of leading them to the promise land and someone who gives them a good shot at a fourth Lombari Trophy—perhaps even more.

We have covered the highs and lows of Nix the past week through scouting reports, articles and podcasts. One thing that caught my eye yesterday was a tweet from Football Guys NFL Writer Ben Cummings was where Nix ranked relative to his peers with respect to various categories from Pro Football Focus. Take a look below and see for yourself.

That’s a lot of top-ranked numbers for the Oregon product in really important categories. This doesn’t raise the expectations for Nix in my opinion, but gives us a firm baseline and understand of the type of prospect he is. Smart, accurate, and the ability to deal with pressure and play relatively mistake free football. That would be a welcomed sight considering what we have seen from most quarterbacks over the last eight years.

And Cummins hits it right on the head in his last statement—Nix was drafted into a good situation. While I’ve had my reservations about Sean Payton as Head Coach of the Denver Broncos, all of us know he is one of the better offensive minds in the game. We don’t know for a year or so if Nix has it, but we certainly know his fit alongside Payton is a great one. I’m bullish on the rookie quarterback and believe in a few year’s time, the Broncos will be competitive once more—with a chance of championships once again within reach.
