Rafael Nadal and Matteo Berrettini are experiencing difficult periods in their careers for various reasons.

When everything was proceeding in the right direction to recover the best conditions on clay, here was yet another inconvenience on a physical level. There is really no respite for Matteo Berrettini who, in addition to the numerous attacks received on social networks regarding the very recent relationship with Melissa Satta, had to make a new forced stop in the pits due to an injury.

The problem forced him to stop even for several weeks: in recent days the Roman tennis player announced his inevitable and painful withdrawal from the BNL d’Italia internationals, valid as a 1000 tournament in the ATP and WTA tours.

During the presentation event of the 80th edition of the competition, Angelo Binaghi, Italian Tennis Federation CEO, expressed his opinion on the current situation of the Italian player.

He said: “Not playing in Rome is a difficult hurt for him to heal. In the grass season he will be able to redeem himself, in those tournaments he becomes the favourite. But we have Lorenzo Musetti, Jannik Sinner and many other youngsters. There is a large patrol of Italians, many more than usual. An Italian must win.”

Then the great curiosity linked to the Spanish champion Rafael Nadal: “I know he is training for Rome.”
