It sounds like AEW could be getting a new on-screen authority figure

Before last Wednesday’s Dynamite ended with The Elite attacking AEW head honcho Tony Khan, there was a lot of talk about how the company chose to address Jack Perry’s absence and set-up his return at Dynasty. Since The Young Bucks hit Khan with a spike piledriver, most our attention’s been on his NFL Draft neck brace… and what he said while wearing it.

We haven’t spent a ton of time discussing what’s next in AEW’s on-screen story. We learned on last weekend’s Collision that Khan will working remotely while he recovers from the “multiple head and neck injuries” The Elite’s assault left him with. Announcers Nigel McGuinness and Tony Schiavone then briefly discussed who would be calling the kafabe shots when AEW returns to the road for Dynamite & Rampage tomorrow (May 1) in Winnipeg, with the usually heel McGuinness suggesting it could be two of the me who took Khan out — EVPs Matthew & Nicholas Jackson of The Young Bucks.

In an interview with TV Insider’s Scott Fishman, Khan teased a development on that story front for Wednesday’s broadcast…

“I’ll still be overseeing AEW and managing the show remotely. As for who will be the highest-ranking official onsite, stay tuned Wednesday. It will certainly be addressed this week on TBS. This power struggle that is happening in AEW.”

The Jacksons won’t be the only EVPs on tomorrow night’s show(s). There’s more questions than answers when it comes to Kenny Omega’s health after he’s been sidelined since late last year with diverticulitis, but count TK among those who find the timing of the ousted Elite member’s return interesting

“It’s the perfect time for Kenny to return. I know Kenny Omega has been recovering at home since he was fired from The Elite by The Young Bucks last month. It’s the perfect time for Kenny Omega to return on May 1.”

Will Omega try to be the boss in Winnipeg, and how with The Bucks, Perry & Kazuchika Okada react if he does? Could someone else step into an authority figure role for AEW?

Place your bets below, and we’ll see what answers we get Wednesday night.
