Krunal Pandya gives update Mayank Yadav, IPL 2024, LSG vs GT

Mayank Yadav, one of the most talked about pacers of IPL 2024 and the match-winner for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their matches against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), got injured in their home match on Sunday.

Mayank left the field after suffering a side strain during the match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and LSG. He conceded 13 runs in his first and only over of the match and then returned to the dugout after getting injured. This made fans very concerned about the pacer’s state and started speculations about his future. During the post-match presentation, Krunal Pandya updated the fans about Mayank’s apparent injury and discussed his potential comeback.

Krunal Pandya provides an update on Mayank Yadav

Pandya, who bowled an impressive spell of 4-0-11-3 against GT, gave a positive update regarding his teammate Mayank when he came out to speak after the match.

Pandya said that he did not know what happened with Mayank, but he seemed fine to him. The all-rounder also said that it would be interesting to see what Mayank will achieve in his career ahead.

“I don’t know what is happening, but I had a couple of seconds with him. He seems OK. He is a bright prospect. He bowled a gun in the nets last year and missed out. He has a good head on his shoulders and is an unbelievable prospect. It will be interesting to see how he will pan out in his career,” Pandya said in the post-match presentation.

This gave some relief to the LSG fans, who were curious about Mayank’s situation and scared about any potential injury. Lucknow Super Giants will hope that their star pacer will make a comeback in their next match against Delhi Capitals (DC).

Pandya’s magic with the ball

After the GT openers had built a cautious 54-run partnership, Pandya brought a game-changing ninth over and ripped through their batting order. His first victim was the in-form Sai Sudharsan. Pandya deceived Sudharsan with a delivery that was a bit quicker than expected. Looking to score quickly, the batter miscued a pull shot, sending the ball high in the air. Ravi Bishnoi, stationed perfectly at deep mid-wicket, took a comfortable catch to dismiss Sudharsan.

Three balls later, Pandya struck again and dismissed BR Sharath, the new batter at the crease, who failed to handle Pandya’s bowling and got out. This double blow by Pandya in quick succession put Gujarat under immense pressure as they slumped to 61-4. Pandya continued his impressive spell, taking the wicket of Darshan Nalkande later in his innings and finishing with figures of 3 for 11 in his four overs.

Although he couldn’t contribute much with the bat (scoring only two runs), his bowling efforts were instrumental in Lucknow’s victory.
