Fans IPL 2023 final

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 final between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) had to be rescheduled to Monday following the persistent rain in Ahmedabad on Sunday (May 28). The unfortunate weather condition hugely disappointed fans, who had gathered in large numbers at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium to witness the highly anticipated clash.

The continuous downpours, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, forced the contest to move towards the reserve day. Notably, it is for the first time in the history of the tournament, the final match has been rescheduled to a reserve day.

At approximately 11 pm IST, officials made the decision not to proceed with a rain-shortened game, even though there was a cut-off time of 12:06 am for a five-over game per side. Now, there is a chance for a complete game to take place on Monday, depending on the weather conditions.

The big question, however, is what will happen to the tickets of fans which was for the May 28 showpiece event? Well, in a significant relief, the official IPL Twitter handle confirmed that fans would be able to attend the final using their existing tickets.

“The final of the IPL 2023 has been moved to the reserve day on 29th May – 7.30 PM IST at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Physical tickets for today will be valid tomorrow. We request you to keep the tickets safe and intact,” tweeted IPL.

In the meantime, Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Titans, encouraged fans to show up in great numbers on the reserve day and not let the rain diminish their enthusiasm. He took to his official Twitter handle and wrote: “Unfortunately, the match could not take place today but look forward to a full house tomorrow. See you then!”
