‘I think physically Novak Djokovic is very…’, says ATP ace

on

Tomorrow the 2023 tennis season begins. There is great expectation for the Adelaide 1 ATP 250 tournament, a simple 250 tournament but in which some of the best tennis players in the world participate. In fact, many have preferred to skip the United Cup and work to better prepare for the Australian Open with lesser leaders. Former world number 1 Novak Djokovic returns to Australia after a year off and he does it more charged than ever and with a great thirst for revenge. The tournament schedule was announced overnight, and Nole tops the standings as the number one seed. The Serbian champion will face Frenchman Lestienne, his first rival in 2023, in the first round, while in the round of 16 he could face off against Canadian Denis Shapovalov. On his side of the draw is the Russian Daniil Medvedev, who could catch Nole in the semifinals. Unfortunate draw for Lorenzo Sonego, who will face Medvedev in the first round. More balanced and under the banner of the NextGen in the lower part, where Jannik Sinner is also. The Italian number one Jannik Sinner will face the British Kyle Edmund, possible rival in the round of 16 of the Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis. Probable fourth with the Russian Andrey Rublev (who will still have Andy Murray on his way). Like the clash in the fourth quarter of the intriguing bottom half challenge between Holger Rune and Felix Auger Aliassime, two of the youngest talents in form in the last phase of the season. Between the two, Jannik’s opponent should probably emerge in the semifinals of the tournament. A 250 immediately packed with talent and many names with Djokovic and Sinner both, for different reasons, eager for a 2022 rematch.

Sinner praises Djokovic

During an interview at the Adelelaide International, Sinner conveyed his feelings on Novak Djokovic’s return to Australia after a year’s break. “I practised with Novak [on Friday] and he’s in shape. You can see that he wants to win and is determined. It’s very nice to have him back here in Australia and having him also at the Australian Open because I think he is one of the best players in the world, if not the best,” the 21-year-old said according to The Age. “He will try to win every match he plays, every tournament he plays, but I think physically he is very, very good and moving very well. To win against him, you have to play your best tennis,” he added.
