Halo Infinite’s Seasons to End as HCS 2024 Season Kicks Off

In a recent community stream, it was revealed that Halo Infinite will have no further seasons, as of January 30. Instead, it’ll receive a series of regularly scheduled updates in the form of smaller ‘Operations’. These Operations will drop every four to six weeks and will contain much less content than the larger seasons. This change comes mere days before the start of the Halo Championship Series 2024 season, which commences on February 3, 2024.

There was a line-up of HCS skin packs coming as part of the new season for ‘teams still competing in the HCS’. There’s an opportunity for users to purchase original skins from when the game launched, but each organisation competing in the HCS (via a partnership) has a new bundle to buy and download. This includes skins for Cloud9, Astralis, Quadrant, FaZe, Spacestation, Sentinel, and OpTic Gaming.

Revealing the Roadmap

As Halo Infinite’s season structure changes forever – which is a result of the team focusing on other, upcoming titles – a new roadmap will be delivered for Halo’s esports scene. It all begins on February 3, with the first Major of the season taking place in Arlington, Texas on March 15 – backed by OpTic Gaming. Following that, there will be a Major taking place in London (organised by Quadrant), which is a massive win for Europe-based fans of the HCS.

This will be the first Major for Halo Infinite outside of North America ever.

In July, there’s a FaZe Clan-backed Major in Atlanta, Georgia, and a final Major in September in Salt Lake City, backed by Spacestation. In Seattle, Washington, the Halo World Championship 2024 will be held, bringing an end to an epic year of Halo esports.

Last year’s HCS saw some worrying viewership figures throughout the season, but things were turned around at the World Championship tournament. During that event, 159,787 peak concurrent viewers were logged, making it the most popular Halo World Championship event since records began. There are high expectations in store for the 2024 season, especially as the game was considered to be in peak form following the deployment of the most recent (and final) season update.
