Gareth Bale, what a mistake on the first hole

on

Just twenty-three days after his official farewell to football, Gareth Bale has begun his new golf adventure by participating in his first tournament. But the former Real Madrid and Welsh international star made an unenviable start, finishing in the bunker on the first hole.

However, Bale did not let himself be discouraged, still managing to stay within par. In the remaining holes he made himself appreciated with a series of good shots. US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick and world No. 3 Jon Rahm praised him. “I told Gareth, you can’t be that good at pro soccer and golf at the same time, it just doesn’t feel right,” Rahm said, joking.

Gareth Frank Bale (born 16 July 1989 in Cardiff) is a Welsh former footballer who played as a forward.

Considered one of the best footballers of his generation, grew up in the youth academy of Southampton, a team with which he made his professional debut. In the summer of 2007, at the age of eighteen, he moved to Tottenham, with which he established himself as one of the most promising talents of his generation, winning an English League Cup and, individually, twice the PFA’s Best Player of the Year (2011 and 2013). In the summer of 2013 he moved to Real Madrid for a total of 100 million euros, which made it, at that time, the most expensive purchase in the history of football. With the Spanish team he won three Spanish league titles, one Copa del Rey, three Spanish Super Cups, five UEFA Champions Leagues, three UEFA Super Cups and four FIFA Club World Cups.

With the Welsh national team, of which he is the record holder for appearances and goals, he has participated in two editions of the European championship (2016 and 2020) and one of the world championship (2022).

On 2 June 2022, for sporting and humanitarian merits, he was appointed by Queen Elizabeth II as a member of the Order of the British Empire.
