Francesco Molinari is super in the Hero Cup

on

In Abu Dhabi, on the second day of competition of the Hero Cup, in the double foursomes matches Francesco Molinari and Guido Migliozzi were the great protagonists of the Continental Europe team which extended its advantage over the Great Britain & Ireland team led by Tommy Fleetwood. Chicco Molinari’s team, in the double role of captain-player, leads by 8.5 to 6.5 before the ten singles matches that tomorrow will decide the Ryder Cup model competition.

Francesco Molinari, results

In the United Arab Emirates and on the Abu Dhabi GC course, Molinari, always paired with Nicolai Hojgaard, returned to grind shots and plays. The Turinese and the Dane first overcame the competition (3&1 the result) of Matt Wallace/Callum Shinkwin. Then, they beat Ewen Ferguson and Richard Mansell 2&1. Two points also won by Migliozzi who, as in the first day of the match, played with Victor Perez. The Vicenza-born and the French dominated the match (3&2) with the Irish Shane Lowry and Seamus Power, with the latter – then in tandem with the Scottish Robert MacIntyre – forced to surrender successively and again to the blue and the transalpine (2&1 ).

Identical booty so far for Migliozzi and Molinari (two wins and a draw for both). All under the eyes of the English Luke Donald, captain of the Europe team at the Ryder Cup in Rome scheduled from 29 September to 1 October on the course of the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club. From the two Italians, who dream of playing the challenge with the USA team in the Eternal City, excellent indications have arrived so far.

Francesco Molinari (Turin, 8 November 1982) is an Italian golfer. He is the younger brother of Edoardo Molinari.

On 22 July 2018 he entered the history of Italian golf by becoming the first Italian to have won a major tournament with the conquest of the 147th British Open. On 18 November 2018 he won the Race to Dubai and became the first Italian in the history of golf to win the prize for best European player. He made world golf history during the 42nd edition of the Ryder Cup held in France in 2018, becoming the first player to win 5 out of 5 matches, bringing as many points to the European team, moreover it is his last point that gave the trophy to the hosts, defeating world-famous champion Phil Mickelson in a one-sided match. His collaboration with the English player Tommy Fleetwood will also remain in history, a couple of great fame who remained unbeaten in all the matches played.
