Fortnite Mobile Coming Back to iOS in Europe Soon Per Leaks

on

Fortnite Mobile is inching closer to a return to iOS, but only in Europe. A new leak has surfaced about the long-awaited return of this platform, one that has been missing since August of 2020. This is still technically unconfirmed information, but it does mark the first step in returning a portion of the player base that has been completely unable to play for nearly four years.

The mobile version of the game was huge and provided gameplay options for some who couldn’t afford an expensive PC or video game console. It was then ripped out of some of their hands, but may be returning soon.

Fortnite Mobile Tested for iOS

It’s been a long time since anyone with an iOS device has been able to log into Fortnite. That could be ending soon, at least for European players. Epic Games has begun testing for a release on Apple devices. This has not been confirmed by Epic Games yet, but given that leakers uncovered the testing in the game files, it’s all but assured. Unfortunately, this is not going to affect the rest of the world.

Apple and Epic Games have had a longstanding feud over in-game purchases. Epic made changes to the game so that players could bypass the App Store payment system, thus giving more money directly to Epic and not to Apple. Apple didn’t appreciate this and removed the game from the App Store. That prompted lawsuits and court battles. Apple technically won the suit, but they were forced by the court to change their practices.

Nevertheless, Apple still has Fortnite Mobile banned. They stated in 2021 that they would continue blacklisting the application until every single court case was completely done including appeals. That meant then that it could have been five years before they restored Fortnite to the App Store. There are still two years remaining in that timeline. With this recent testing, it might be sooner than that for European gamers.

Unfortunately, there’s no real timetable for the United States and other regions. Those who are in America will still have to use workarounds like NVIDIA or the Xbox Cloud Gaming application.
