The Jets may have found a long term answer to protect the quarterback’s blind side
With their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft the New York Jets selected Penn State offensive tackle Olumuyiwa Fashanu.
While he eventually went at pick 11, Fashanu started the offseason as a possible top 5 pick. Perhaps the biggest reason for that was because he was arguably the best pass blocker in the class, with some truly ludicrous efficiency numbers.

At face value that statistic alone speaks for itself. Another way to think about that might be even more impressive though: with 1 hit allowed and 0 sacks allowed across 1,285 snaps, Fashanu allowed a play that impacted the QB on 0.08% of his pass blocking sets in college.
Zero.
Point.
Zero.
Eight.
Percent.
That is a figure that you’d be surprised to see if you played a video game on easy mode.
If Fashanu is even remotely close to that effective in pass protection at the next level, then the Jets are going to be set at left tackle for a long, long, long time.
