Atlanta adds a mammoth nose tackle candidate with their last pick.

The Atlanta Falcons said they wanted to add young defensive backs, and perhaps they’ll do so via free agency and undrafted free agents. What they wanted to add via the draft, apparently, was help for their defensive front.

They capped off this class with their final selection, the 6’5”, 315 pound Zion Logue out of Georgia. He’s a big, big player, and that size and strength is going to earn him a look as a reserve for Atlanta in the coming years.

What scouting reports note is that Logue, who only became a full-time starter in his final season at Georgia, needs work on technique in order to take full advantage of that size and strength. He has the tools necessary to be an extremely useful run stopper up front for Atlanta and definitely improved in his final season in college, but will likely need more time and refinement to carve out anything larger than a small early down role occupying blockers.

Logue joins a rebuilt front and will have the luxury of time to develop, and if he does, he could be an extremely interesting player for the Falcons. At worst, though, the team added another depth piece to a group that suddenly looks far stronger and deeper than it did heading into the week.
