Roster news.

The Philadelphia Eagles cut the following four players on Monday, according to the NFL’s official transaction report:

  • DT Noah Elliss
  • WR/TE Griffin Hebert
  • CB Tiawan Mullen
  • OL Lecitus Smith

They are all subject to waivers, so, we’ll soon see if they get claimed.

All four players were fighting uphill battles to make the 53-man roster. Elliss may have had the best chance to make the team since the Eagles could some use more depth at nose tackle. But apparently not.

Prior to these cuts, the Eagles had 78 players on their roster (including Mekhi Becton, who OFFICIALLY signed on Monday) … PLUS nine unsigned draft picks to make it 87 players under team control. Cutting these four guys clears up room for the Eagles to sign their undrafted rookie free agents, of which there are reportedly seven.

And that, for the time being, maxes the Eagles out at the 90-player offseason limit. Boom. Math.
