Some unfortunate news just before the start of the tournament.

Just hours before WWE is all set to get its latest King of the Ring tournament kicked off on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw in Hartford, Connecticut, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce brings some unfortunate news.

Drew McIntyre has been pulled from the tournament:

“On that note, a bit of unfortunate breaking news, as Drew McIntyre is not medically able to compete tonight. That’s right, Drew McIntyre medically disqualified from competition tonight here in Hartford. As a result, he will be pulled from the King of the Ring tournament.”

McIntyre has been on one hell of a hot run of late but that run has featured a few hiccups, such as an injury he suffered at WrestleMania 40. It would appear that injury is bad enough to keep him from wrestling for the time being, even if he has been making appearances for the company in the meantime.

There’s no word on just what this means for his previously scheduled opponent, Finn Balor. We’ll have to tune in to Raw this week to find out.
