DP World Tour moves from Bahrain to Doha

The DP World Tour moves from Bahrain to Doha, where the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters will be held from 8 to 11 February. On the course of the Doha Golf Club, there will still be eight Italian golfers competing, including Guido Migliozzi, who was second in this tournament in 2021, and Filippo Celli, who was the best Italian last week in Bahrain. The other Italians who will participate are Matteo Manassero, Renato Paratore, Edoardo Molinari, Francesco Laporta, Andrea Pavan and Lorenzo Scalise. The only absentee among the Italians with a full “card” is Francesco Molinari.

The event will offer a prize pool of $2,500,000, of which $425,000 will go to the winner. After his outstanding performance in the Bahrain Championship, South African Dylan Frittelli, along with his compatriots Thriston Lawrence, Ockie Strydom and Zander Lombard, will be considered among the favourites. There are also good chances of success for Danish Rasmus Hojgaard, New Zealander Daniel Hillier and Germans Yannik Paul and Maximilian Kieffer. However, Finnish Sami Valimaki will be absent, as he hopes to find a place on the playing field at the Phoenix Open, a PGA Tour event taking place in the United States at the same time.

Among the winners of past editions, there will be some well-known names such as the Scottish Ewen Ferguson (2022), the French Antoine Rozner (2021), the Spanish Jorge Campillo (2020), the English Eddie Pepperell (2018), the South Korean Jeunghun Wang (2017) and the British Chris Wood (2013). It will be interesting to see who emerges in this year’s Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.
