The Miami Dolphins added Colorado State’s Mohamed Kamara in the fifth round.

The Miami Dolphins added depth to the pass rush early in the draft by selecting Chop Robinson in the first round. Considering Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips are working back from late-season injuries, general manager Chris Grier continued adding to the position.

Colorado State edge defender Mohamed Kamara was selected with the 159th overall pick by the Dolphins in the fifth round. The five-year player earned 93 career tackles and 29.5 career sacks.

Kamara believed he should’ve gone higher in the draft after being named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year with 17 tackles for a loss and 13 sacks in 2023.

“To be honest, I’m very excited,” Kamara said of being drafted by the Dolphins, “but I also am very, very angry going the round that I did. That’s just my personality. I knew I could’ve went higher and I wanted to go higher, but the lovely team of Miami picked me up and I’m going to give them that burning desire.

“I have a chip on my shoulder, so it just got even greater. So everybody else, all 31 other teams, look out because the way I’m about to play against these guys, you should’ve picked me before.”

He finished his graduate season with 56 tackles and 13 sacks, tied for fourth-most in the nation. He became the first Colorado State University edge defender to win Mountain West Defensive Player since current Dolphins defender Shaq Barrett earned the award with 20.5 tackles for a loss and 12 sacks as a senior in 2013.

“God put it in certain ways or whatever case may be. I should’ve went higher, but it’s not the end of the world,” Kamara said. “Like I said, I’m grateful for Miami allowing me to even get picked, but for me and my personally

“I’m going to just take that and just roast the whole NFL. That’s just how I look at things.”
