With a long post on his socialmedia accounts, the Argentine tennis player Diego Schwartzman officially announced his retirement from tennis.
He had certainly been in the air for some time, also due to the results no longer being up to par and some disheartening social posts published. But now it’s official.

Diego announced that his future retirement from tennis will take place in February 2025, in Argentina, at the ATP in Buenos Aires.
“What a journey! How many moments I would never have imagined, how many anecdotes I would never have dreamed of, how many people I met who helped me grow, who taught me so much, who made me a much better player and person than I was before. anyone had ever believed.
Every corner of the pitch, every second of training, every point in the match, in every moment I was immensely happy. I lived it with such intensity that today it is difficult for me to maintain it today it carries a weight and it is difficult for me to continue to fully enjoy them.
On the one hand, leaving a life that has given me so much is a very difficult decision, but on the other, how happy I was playing tennis pushes me to continue wanting. keep a smile on and off the pitch as I always have. However today I sometimes struggle to find that smile again.
Inside me, a competitive animal prevents me from having fun, playing and traveling like before. I want my last tournaments to be my decision. Tennis has given me everything I have, he underlined, and much more that I will carry with me forever. It was a wonderful trip,” he wrote.

We remember Schwartzman has won a total of 4 titles in his career out of 14 finals played. His best ranking is 8th place, achieved on 12 October 2020. In the Slams, his best result remains the semi-final of the Roland Garros 2020. He reached the 4th round twice at the Australian Open, the 3rd round twice at Wimbledon and twice quarterfinalist at the US Open. He also won the 2022 Laver Cup with Team World, in the edition in which tennis legend Roger Federer retired.
