After 36 holes, Davis Riley leads the leaderboard, with a solid -6 for the day propelling him to a total of -10 (130 strokes), giving him a two-shot lead over compatriots Hayden Buckley and Pierceson Coody. Among the standout performers of the day is Sungjae Im, whose excellent -6 sees him climb a remarkable 42 positions.

The par 70 course at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, saw other contenders emerge, with Ryan Fox and Americans Robby Shelton, Brian Harman, and Tony Finau rounding out the top ten with a score of -5. Despite a challenging start, Gary Woodland managed to climb the leaderboard with a daily score of -6, placing him in 12th position with a total score of -4.
Scottie Scheffler, the number one player in the Official World Golf Ranking, redeemed himself in the second round with a solid -5, placing him in 15th position with an overall score of -3, while Emiliano Grillo continues to struggle, sitting in 60th place with a score of +2, far from the top spots despite his past triumph in the previous edition.
Riley, a native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, attended Presbyterian Christian School in his hometown, where he clinched the Mississippi state title for four consecutive years. His golf prowess was further recognized when he was named the All-USA Boys Golf Player of the Year by USA Today in 2015. Riley’s talent was evident early on, as he reached the final of the U.S. Junior Amateur for two consecutive years, a feat only previously achieved by Tiger Woods and Jordan Spieth. Despite losing in the 2013 final to Scottie Scheffler after calling a penalty on himself, Riley’s achievements continued to flourish. He represented the American team at the 2014 Junior Ryder Cup, contributing to their victory over the European team in Perthshire, Scotland.
Upon enrolling at the University of Alabama in 2015, Riley continued to excel, earning Second Team All-SEC honors as a sophomore and being hailed as the top collegiate player in the nation heading into his junior year. His success extended beyond collegiate golf, as evidenced by his participation in the Palmer Cup in 2018, where he played a pivotal role in the American team’s triumph over the International team.
