Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson’s surgically repaired right throwing shoulder appears to be back to 100%—but Indianapolis may still limit his initial workload.
Per his head coach Shane Steichen, Indianapolis Colts starting quarterback Anthony Richardson is in a really good place physically and remains on track to participate in OTAs later next month—although he’ll be eased back into a full workload (via WTHR’s Dominic Miranda and The Athletic’s James Boyd):

The ongoing health reports regarding Richardson, who’s rehabbing from a season-ending shoulder surgery to his right throwing shoulder, have been nothing short of glowing so far this early offseason—and that’s been great news for Colts fans.
So far, showing no limitations with either his right shoulder’s range of motion or having lost any miles per hour from his ‘best football fastball,’ Richardson looks all the way back.

That being said, the Colts are rightfully going to be cautious with their latest franchise quarterback hopeful—having already learned the hard way regarding Andrew Luck’s shocking retirement in 2019 following his lingering injuries and continuous rehabbing.
#Colts GM Chris Ballard explained they aren’t going to rush Anthony Richardson’s rehab from injury because “I lived through the last one (Andrew Luck) and I learned a lot of lessons living through the last one.”pic.twitter.com/yg1vdjTFed

The Colts have to think about the next 10 years with Richardson, not the next 10 months, which is why shutting him down in the middle of a potential playoff season last year made the most sense for both sides, especially when considering his long-term health and critical importance to the franchise’s future success, bigger picture.
However, the latest status updates regarding Richardson’s progress have been highly, highly encouraging—and it appears we may see him on the football field without any restrictions, much sooner rather than later.
