Martin Archie went unbeaten as Hatfield Peverel A drew 5-5 with leaders Chelmsford C – the destination of the division two title remains undecided with just four points separating the two teams with five matches remaining.
Division 1
Just two scorecards were received this week in division one – Sam Lowman won all three of his matches as Danbury B kept the pressure on third placed Danbury A with a 7-3 away win over Galleywood A. It wasn’t until the doubles that the hosts were able to put a win on the board as Gary Brignall and Will Goodchild recovered from 2-0 down to beat Lowman and Dan Anderson – Goodchild then pulled off an excellent 3-2 win over Daniel Piggott having trailed 2-0, and Brignall was able to get the better of Anderson over five.
Third-placed Danbury A beat Danbury C 7-3 in a match which saw Bruce Kettle undefeated. Kettle beat Daniel Patynski in three games, Paul Davison in four and David Gatheral in five, and then teamed with Eric Green to beat Davison and Patynski in the doubles. Davison beat both Dave Richardson and Eric Green in three straight games but despite being level with Kettle at 1-1 he saw his opponent take the next two games.

Division 2
Martin Archie scored a hat-trick as the spoils were shared in the top of the table clash in division two between leaders Chelmsford C and second-placed Hatfield Peverel A. Archie fought back from 2-1 down against Harrison Hill before going on to beat Victor Chan and Waseem Qureshi.
Hill was involved in a second five-gamer when he came from 2-0 behind to beat Julie Johnson 3-2. In the other match to go the distance, Alastair Piper came from 2-1 down to beat Chan.
Gary Ward’s treble wasn’t enough to prevent third-placed Writtle C falling to a surprise home loss to Chelmsford D. Ward beat Keith Martin in three, Dusan Doszkoty in four and came from behind to beat Omar Wasi. In a match which started and ended a close contest, Martin beat John Parodi with a 13-11 scoreline in the fifth.
Maldon A took advantage of Writtle’s slip to move above them into third place with a 7-3 win over Danbury G. Lloyd Bennett-Smith led the way with three wins but had to recover from 2-0 down in his opening match with Denis Baliic. Balic later came from 2-1 down to beat Colin Napper with a 14-12 scoreline in the fifth.
Sanjay Saptarshi went undefeated and didn’t drop a game as his Danbury D side beat clubmates Danbury E 8-2. Saptarshi’s teammate Daniel Patynski also earned a treble but was made to work by both Tim Cramphorn and Dick Wyman who took him the distance.
Writtle B’s 7-3 win away at OCA B wasn’t enough for them to maintain fifth place – Mick Richardson’s three singles wins being the only points for the hosts. Writtle’s trio of Richard Storey, Trevor Carter and Phil Smith all won twice but were undone by Richardson – Storey’s two wins both went the distance.

Division 3
Leaders Galleywood B maintained their 13-point lead at the top of division three with an 8-2 away win over Danbury K. Mark Glenister and Bryn Thomas both fired trebles as John Holland missed out on a hat-trick of his own in the last match of the evening – Alan Dadswell edging their encounter 3-2.
Second-placed Buttsbury A kept pace with the leaders via an 8-2 away victory of their own – against sixth-placed Writtle D. Yet more trebles for Buttsbury’s Jamie Elliott and Evie Knaapen while Writtle’s Bob Garson and Pete Layzell got the better of Buttsbury’s Kevin Willis. Elliott and Knaapen won the doubles match with Garson and Layzell over five games.
Third-placed OCA C lost a little ground on the leaders despite a 6-4 home win over Writtle E. OCA’s Tom Barker and Luke Richardson won two matches each, as did Malcolm Storey and Ian Hockley for the visitors. Matches three, four and five all went into deciding games with each going in favour of the visitors but the hosts went on to win the last five matches to take the victory.
Ninth-placed Danbury H earned a 5-5 draw on the road at Chelmsford E thanks to an Alan Scammell hat-trick. Scammell was pushed hard by James Grimston over five games and despite an 11-1 score to Grimston in the third, Scammell was able to win games four and five.
Pavanaj Srinivasamurthy was the star of the show as his treble helped bottom of the table Chelmsford F to a 5-5 draw at fifth-placed Hatfield Peverel B. Srinivasamurthy beat Paul Mulley in three, Neil Freeman in four and Gareth Davies in five as teammate Sami Osman also chipped in with a double though went down to Hatfield’s Neil Freeman in a match which went to the decider.
Standings div 3: 1: Galleywood B 112 points (from 15 matches), 2: Buttsbury A 99 points (14 matches), 3: OCA C 77 points (from 14 matches).
Division 4
In the most anticipated match of the week in division four, second-placed Chelmsford G came out on 8-2 winners in their clash with fourth placed OCA D thanks to three wins apiece for Cleon Fernandes and Grace Liu. Match of the night was the five-game encounter between Vishnu Surendran and Farooq Ahmed whereby Surendran recovered from two games down to level only for Ahmed to breeze through by 11-2 in the fifth.
Leaders Galleywood C maintained their healthy lead at the top with an 8-2 home win with Danbury L. Will Goodchild and Colin Blore won three games apiece while Nathan Blore missed out in five-gamers to both Greg Cooper and John Manning.
Hatfield Peverel D and Hatfield Peverel E played out a 5-5 draw with James Brooks winning three for the E-side – his win over Neil Wood went to a decider. Highwood A cruised to a 10-0 win over Hatfield Peverel C thanks to trebles from Roger Patient, Keith Fitz-John and Melanie Bonnett.

Division 5
Richard Pond scored a hat-trick as fourth placed Buttsbury C drew 5-5 at fifth placed Anglia Ruskin University in division five. Pond dropped just one game in his three victories and teamed with Francesca Hart for a 3-1 doubles win.
With runaways leaders Danbury M not in action, Chelmsford J were able to close the gap with a 7-3 home win against OCA E. Dave Parker and Mark Nolan both won three games each and teamed up to take the doubles three games to two.
Martin Goddard hit a treble as eighth-placed Highwood B pulled a shock of sorts as they beat third placed Chelmsford H 6-4. Goddard’s recovery from 2-0 down against Peter Davenport in his opening match spurred him on to 3-1 wins over both James Grindlay and Jacqui Smith.
James Raymond didn’t drop a game as he went unbeaten in Maldon C’s 7-3 victory over Galleywood D. Teammate Kym Eames won twice but lost out to Arran Goodridge who won twice for the visitors.
Ron Tam’s hat-trick earned 10th-placed Writtle F a 7-3 win on the road against bottom of the table Hatfield Peverel F. Tam’s teammate Paul Aarons won twice with 3-1 wins over both Martin Kilbey and Jackie Treacy but saw a 2-1 lead slip against Hatfield’s Peter Hughes.

Chelmsford Junior League division 2A
Hutton Hawks moved to two wins from three matches this season with a 4-1 victory over the Chelmsford Eagles. Noah Middleton remains undefeated this season as he beat William Guilloux in four and George Matthews in three. Charlie Gould chipped in with a victory over Matthews before the Hutton duo won 3-0 in the doubles.
The Buttsbury Bears bounced back from last week’s loss with a 5-0 home win over Danbury Dragons. Vivaan Babbar dropped just one game over his two wins while teammate Callum Walker won both of his games by a 3-1 scoreline.
Chelmsford Junior League division 2B
Two wins for Billy Andrews helped his Hutton Harriers move to three wins from three matches this season by a tight 3-2 scoreline over Chelmsford Leopards. Andrews beat both George Matthews and Damon Chow 3-0 before he and teammate Sam Collins recovered from 1-0 down to win the decisive doubles contest.
Two wins apiece for Vivaan Babbar and Thomas Lewis saw the Buttsbury Bulldogs cruise to a 5-0 win over Hutton Hyenas. Babbar didn’t drop a game in his two wins while Lewis won both of his matches 3-1 having lost the first game in each.
Chelmsford Junior League division 2C
A change in personnel did not prevent Chelmsford Panthers storming to their third successive 5-0 win as Nathanael Slade and Sky Reeve dropped just one game during the afternoon against the Hutton Hornets.
After two heavy losses to start the season the Hutton Hammerheads earned a good 4-1 victory at home to the Chelmsford Rhinos. James Williamson won twice – the first being a tight 3-2 win over Jai Gumbeer with the last two games going 12-14, 13-11. Gumbeer scored the only point for the Rhinos with a 3-1 win over Rayan Ladva.
Chelmsford Junior League division 2D
Lockie Stewart improved his record to four wins from four matches as the Hutton Hares won 4-1 at the Chelmsford Lions. Stewart beat Bernard Chow in five games after Jonny Pocock had beaten Chow by the same scoreline.
Two different players were on show for the Buttsbury Bats this week but Zac Berry and Ethan Bird continued the winning streak with a 4-1 victory over Buttsbury Bees. Berry beat both Abhir Kandagiri and Rayhan Sudheer in straight games though Sudheer earned the first win by a Bees player this season with a 3-0 victory over Bird.
