on

Benefiting from milder weather conditions compared to the previous day, especially in terms of wind, Céline Boutier took advantage to produce the round of the week here in Singapore on the Tanjong Course at Sentosa Golf Club. A sublime 64 (-8) featuring eight birdies and no errors. This remarkable achievement, achieved under the watchful eyes of her parents, who were already present last week in Thailand, catapults her to the top of the leaderboard with a total score of -7 (137).

Starting from the 10th, the current world number 3 made the difference with the putter in hand on the back nine, notching up five birdies between holes 1 and 8. This flawless second round allows her to hold a one-shot lead at the halfway mark (no cut in this reduced-field event) over Japan’s Ayaka Furue, who carded a 67 (-5) today, highlighted by a “four in a row” from the 12th to the 15th.

Already in contention in Pattaya, where she finished 9th at the Honda LPGA Thailand, Sweden’s Madelene Sagström is two shots behind the Frenchwoman thanks to a bogey-free 68 (-4).

Former leader, American Sarah Schmelzel settled for an even-par round (72) and drops to fourth place at -4, alongside Taiwan’s Peiyun Chien, Japan’s Nasa Hataoka, Australia’s Stephanie Kyriacou, and the 2021 tournament winner, South Korea’s Hyo Joo Kim.

Double defending champion and former world number 1, South Korea’s Jin Young Ko, who was tenth after eighteen holes, loses ground with her 73 (+1) today, putting her in 27th place at even par overall (144).

There was also a 73 for the other French golfer competing this week in Singapore, Perrine Delacour. The Picardie native, starting on the 10th tee, began with three bogeys on her first three holes before somewhat rectifying the situation on the back nine with two birdies on the 7th and 8th. She sits in 38th place at +3 (147), alongside Swiss Albane Valenzuela, who finished second in Thailand last Sunday, and Ireland’s Leona Maguire, completely off form this Friday with a heavy 77 (+5).
