on

It was just revealed that the 2024 Call of Duty League Championship Weekend will be held in Texas. OpTic Texas is backing it, and it’ll take place at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center. It’s being hosted from July 18 – 21, and it’ll welcome the world’s best COD players to the grandest stage in the scene. From the ticket purchasing menu, it looks as though the event will make full use of the venue, boasting a 360-degree stage – which hasn’t been seen in Call of Duty esports for years.

With COD Champs being backed by the biggest organisation in the business, high expectations are already floating around. This season, OpTic Texas has been one of the sharpest teams on the board, and just weeks ago, the squad narrowly missed out on lifting the trophy at Major II.

From July 18 – 21, the Call of Duty League Championship Weekend will unfold. It’s taking place in Texas – and the hype train has kicked off already. Moments after the reveal was made, the booking site buckled under the weight of CDL fans trying desperately to secure the best tickets. During the event, the 2024 Challengers Finals will also take place in the arena. It took a while for the lower-tier ecosystem to gain traction this season, but things are well and truly underway.

OpTic fans are hoping that the home advantage will give some kind of a boost to the Texas team. For the longest time, OpTic Texas has been within spitting distance of lifting trophies, but the squad has fallen short on numerous occasions. It could be argued that the roster OpTic Texas boasts this season is better than in recent years by far, but does that automatically mean the team is shaping up for the top spot on home turf?
