With 7 receivers gone on Day 1 of the NFL draft, Andrew Berry goes defense in Round 2

On a night that promised fireworks due to three top-level quarterback prospects and three others expected to go in the first or second round, the 2024 NFL draft didn’t disappoint. For the Cleveland Browns, seeing six quarterbacks go in the first 12 picks worked out well but with seven receivers off the board and another eight offensive tackles taken, Day 2 could get interesting.

Offense ruled the day in the first round of the draft with just nine defensive players taken. Browns GM Andrew Berry might have hoped for a little better mix as he is scheduled to wait until pick #54 to make his first selection.

Cleveland has two selections on Day 2 of this year’s draft.

Using Pro Football Network’s Mock Draft Simulator, we bring you our Day 2 Browns mock draft:

Second Round

DT Michael Hall Jr., The Ohio State University Buckeyes

We were offered a few trades here but wanted to sit pat for this mock draft. Hall is a dynamic pass rusher in the middle of the defense. Trading up for DT Johnny Newton, OT Kingsley Suamataia or WR Troy Franklin would make for a lot of fun for Cleveland fans as well.

Third Round

OT Kiran Amegadjie, Yale Bulldogs

A developmental prospect that many covering the Browns have connected to the team, Amegadjie could benefit from all of the OTs taken in the first round. LB Junior Colson, DE Brandon Dorlus and WR Malachi Corley would be fun trade-up targets while RB Blake Corum, WR Johnny Wilson and CB DeCamerion Richardson remain on the board after selecting Amegadjie here.
