Boris Becker, former coach of the Serbian champion Novak Djokovic, talked to The Telegraph about his desire to return to Wimbledon, also spending a few words on the period of the current ATP No.1.
Becker would like to return to Wimbledon, but to be able to go the German needs permission from the Ministry of the Interior, which he will try to obtain next year.
“I miss Wimbledon, obviously. It’s my favorite tournament, the most important. I’m working on all fronts to return next year, in 2025. It’s an option, but let’s see who I’ll work for there, because I can’t be there yet in the country,” he told
The process in some cases takes more than 10 years, but the 56-year-old is confident he can get the permit.
“The 10 years without returning to the UK is nonsense. After October 2024 I can get permission from the Home Office. They decide, not me,” he added.

The German then denied the possibility of returning to coach Novak Djokovic.
“I think he’s looking for something different at the moment. I’m not sure he knows exactly what it is. He will always be a dear friend of mine, we always talk about tennis, but I couldn’t go back to coaching him because I already did. He would be a step back,” he explained.
Becker finally concluded by analyzing the Serbian’s choice not to take part in the ATP Master 1000 in Madrid: “I was surprised by his decision in Madrid. I think that at this stage he needs matches, competition. But he has his own commitments. I think winning gold for Serbia at the Paris Olympics is his main goal, so maybe he is already planning to be fresh for July. This could be a reason.”
