As reported last week, Asuka is still being pushed for a Women’s title match against Becky Lynch at a later time. The match last week saw Asuka tapping out to the Sharpshooter by Natalya, but that wasn’t the original finish. Asuka was supposed to pin Natalya and remain dominate. The plans changed earlier in the day because WWE wanted to capitalize on Natayla’s momentum coming off of Crowned Jewel. There’s some speculation that Natalya was supposed to tapout Kari Sane, but the decision was made for Asuka to take the loss.
Asuka is expected to challenge Becky Lynch for the title in the next couple months. The idea is that Lynch is going to want to avenge her loss from earlier this year to Asuka for the WWE Women’s title. At Survivor Series, Lynch will be taking on Shayna Blaszer and Bayley in a brand vs brand match. WWE has not announced a match for Asuka yet.
