Giants continue adding pass catchers

The New York Giants continued to add to their wide receiver room on Thursday, announcing the signing of veteran receiver Allen Robinson.

Robinson, who will be 31 this season, started all 17 games for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2023. He had just 34 receptions for 280 yards, and averaged a career-low 8.2 yards per catch.

A 2014 second-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound Robinson has 562 career receptions for 7,028 yards (12.5 yards per catch), with 43 touchdowns.

Robinson has had three 1,000-yard receiving seasons in his 10-year career. He had 98 receptions for 1,147 yards for the Chicago Bears in 2019 and a career-high 102 receptions for 1,250 yards for the Bears in 2020.

In 2015, Robinson had 80 receptions for 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns for Jacksonville.

The Giants, of course, used the No. 6 overall pick in the draft on LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers. They also added veteran wide receiver/kick returner Isaiah McKenzie in free agency.

Over his three drafts as GM, Joe Schoen has rebuilt the wide receiver position. In 2022, he drafted Wan’Dale Robinson in Round 2, and in 2023 he traded up in Round 3 to select Jalin Hyatt.
