A rather interesting conversation took place during a backstage segment on Friday Night SmackDown in Saudi Arabia this week. Remember when AJ Styles said last week that we would learn his future next week when he talked to SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis about it?
Well, that happened on this show and it didn’t go well for ol’ Allen Jones.
He campaigned for another shot at the WWE championship, saying he should get to take on the winner of the Cody Rhodes vs. Logan Paul match at King & Queen of the Ring simply because, well, he just really needs one more chance. Then, when Aldis refused and told him earning a shot takes time, Styles gave him an interesting response.
“You know I don’t have time.”
I may be reading too much into that but it sure sounds like they could be making his pending retirement a story. After all, it was only one month ago that he was publicly saying the end is near.
Tick tock, I guess.
