Noted for his phenomenal work at the helm of Palmeiras, with whom he has already won two Copa Libertadores (2020, 2021) and a Brazilian championship (2022), Abel Ferreira has seen his name be linked insistently with the Nice side in recent months. Already tracked by the Aiglons in January, after the dismissal of Lucien Favre, the Portuguese coach would still appear on the INEOS short list according to RMC.
Asked after the qualification of his team against Tombense on Wednesday, in the round of 16 of the Brazilian Cup (1-1, 3-5 aggregate score), Abel Ferreira reacted to the interest of the Riviera club. “People have to talk to me. That’s what the press says… I have a contract with the club (until 2024 with Palmeiras), I’m here for the moment. What interests me at the moment is what is happening with Palmeiras”, said the 44-year-old coach. In recent weeks, the president of the Paulista club, Leila Pereira, had expressed her wish to extend the former coach of Braga until 2027.
