Former world No 3 Stan Wawrinka is set to return to the top-100 for the first time since 2022 January.
Wawrinka, 37, entered this week ranked at No 105 in the world.
Following his round-of-16 win over Richard Gasquet at an ATP 250 event in Marseille, Wawrinka ensured a top-100 return on Monday.

In the March of 2021, Wawrinka was ranked around No 20 in the world.
Then, he prematurely ended his 2021 season and had two surgeries on his foot.
When Wawrinka returned to action in late March of 2022, he was ranked well outside the top-200 in the world.
In late 2022, Wawrinka made the Metz semifinal and he also had a quarterfinal appearance in Basel.
This February, Wawrinka reached back-to-back ATP quarterfinals in Rotterdam and Marseille.
Wawrinka is seemingly rediscovering his old game
Even though Wawrinka’s best years are probably behind him, he is rediscovering his form and proving that he can still make solid results on the ATP Tour.
In March, Wawrinka will be turning 38.
At the start of this season, Wawrinka was asked if this was his final year on the pro level.
“In this mid-January, I would like to say no. No, because I didn’t try so hard to have to quit in a few months. I didn’t get so fit for just one season. And at the same time, it is clear that you never know what can happen. But honestly, I want to last a few more years,” Wawrinka said in January.
In late 2022, Wawrinka reunited with his coach Magnus Norman.
In the past, Norman guided Wawrinka to three Grand Slam victories and a top-3 ranking.
Even though Wawrinka seems to be intending to play for at least a few more years, it also seems that he wants to finish his career with Norman as his coach.
It remains to be seen if Wawrinka can continue his ranking rise and win any ATP titles this year.
