on

The 2023 of the Arab Superleague of the “green”, the LIV Golf, starts from Mexico. From February 24 to 26 in Playa del Carmen the LIV Golf Mayakoba will be staged with 48 competitors as protagonists. On the one hand the individual competition, on the other the team competition (12 in total, each made up of four players). The show is double on the El Camaleón Mayakoba route. Designed by Greg Norman, CEO of the Superlega, until 2022 it hosted the Mayakoba Golf Classic, an event of the PGA Tour, the top American circuit now in stark contrast to LIV Golf.

After hitting the jackpot, winning the individual classification, leading his team (the “4 Ages GC”) to success and earning over 35.6 million in the first season, Dustin Johnson will still be the most anticipated star of the Separatist league.

Not just Johnson. With him will also be champions such as Cameron Smith, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Sergio Garcia, Henrik Stenson and Phil Mickelson. Among the new signings, not sensational, here are Mito Pereira, Sebastian Munoz, Brendan Steele, Danny Lee, Dean Burmester and Thomas Pieters.

The captain of the “RangeGoats GC” will be Bubba Watson who is preparing to return to the field for the first time since last May (PGA Championship). The Mexicans Abraham Ancer and Carlos Ortiz are aiming to play a leading role in front of their home crowd.

The first of fourteen events in the 2023 Arab Super League, LIV Golf Mayakoba will be raffling $25 million. Whoever finishes in first place in the individual competition will take home 4,000,000, while 3,000,000 ($750,000 per player) will be awarded to the team that prevails in the team competition.

LIV Golf is a professional golf tour funded by the Public Investment Fund, the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia. The name “LIV” refers to the Roman numerals for 54, the score if every hole on a par-72 course had been scored with birdies, and the number of holes to be played in LIV events.
