Damian Priest says he doesn’t need Judgment Day

Raw’s most dominant stable appears to be on the verge of collapse.

It seems that becoming World Heavyweight Champion has gone to Damian Priest’s head, and with Rhea Ripley absent due to injury, his arrogance could spell trouble for Judgment Day.

This week on Raw, Priest scolded JD McDonagh after McDonagh tried to help Priest, unbeknownst to the champion, get the jump on “Main Event” Jey Uso. However, McDonagh’s assistance backfired, resulting in Uso blasting Priest in the face with a superkick. Later, as McDonagh tried to apologize, Priest told him and Dominik Mysterio to handle their business and to stay out of his.

After McDonagh and Santos Escobar, who was filling in for an injured Mysterio, lost a match to Andrade and Ricochet, El Campeón hit the ring to handle the affairs that Escobar and McDonagh failed to. Before leaving, Priest eyed McDonagh and Mysterio and said he didn’t need them. Instead, they need him.

Priest continued his tirade backstage, which WWE shared on Instagram, where he again proclaimed that he doesn’t need anyone to help him, including his longtime friends in the gothic stable.

“I don’t need anybody to take care of my business,” said Priest. “I can handle anything I want on my own. So Jey Uso, get this straight. At Backlash, you’re gonna fall, and the entire world is gonna rise to me, El Campeón, Damian Priest. And I don’t need anybody, including the Judgment Day, to do that.”

Since last summer, WWE has teased several rifts within the group, notably between Priest and Finn Bálor, who was absent from last night’s show. However, Bálor made his presence felt on social media, where he wrote, “I would like to take this moment to say thank you to WWE for 10 incredible years. And after much thought and consideration, I have decided that now is the right time to say, I ain’t going nowhere!”

The direction WWE is taking with Priest remains unclear. His current attitude suggests he isn’t transitioning to a positive role as WWE’s next beloved character. While Mysterio and McDonagh may lack the courage to challenge him, the prospect of a confrontation between Priest and Bálor, who is no pushover, is intriguing.

Based on Raw, Judgment Day appears to be struggling without Ripley. A backstage encounter between Mysterio and Ripley’s rival, Liv Morgan, though silent, also raises questions about whether Mami will have a group or her Dom Dom to return to once she is cleared for action.
