Bucs fans seem extremely pleased with the new addition to the offensive line
It’s not often that the overwhelming majority of Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans agree on something. Maybe it’s the split among college allegiances, maybe it’s the generational gap where there are varying philosophies on what makes a winner – but outside of the signing of Tom Brady, it’s hard to remember the last time this many Bucs fans all had such similar reactions to a move.
That said, the addition of interior offensive lineman Graham Barton out of Duke has Bucs fans feeling pretty good on Friday morning. Now, it’s not unanimous as there were a few people that wanted Tampa to go in a different direction, but after taking to X to ask what our followers thought of the pick, most reacted in a very positive manner;
10/10
Best IOL in the draft at a huge position of need. No brainer.

A+

It’s not an exciting pick, but if he can deliver right away, it will work out.
— Jack Burton Mercer (@JackBurtonMercr) April 26, 2024
He’s a future foundational piece. We needed it. Graham Barton is essential. You don’t ever have a craving for it but it’s essential.

Taking O line is never splashy but it was needed and he’s the most pro ready prospect.
— ImRickJames (@ColdBlooded804) April 26, 2024
Still love it

The offense can’t move if the Oline isn’t blocking….
For the need and potentially immediate impact.. Great pick

Our biggest area of need, and he was the best interior lineman in the draft. Very happy! Bravo

Some were happy with the pick, but already turning their attention to the second and third rounds on Friday night;
Love it. Absolutely solid pick. Today we make the “sexy” picks that everyone wants to see great value left on the board
— Paul Boe III v/ (@paulboe3) April 26, 2024
It’s a great pick. Now what do we do after, and there’s still some solid free agents out there if we don’t get what we want from the draft
— Buckdacious (@BuckGotBars) April 26, 2024
Not being the sexy pick doesn’t mean it isn’t great! I’m curious if he would have still been the pick if one of the EDGEs fell to 26.
Love how the draft has gone so far. Excited to see what Licht cooks up Day 2
— HeyHeyTampaBay (@TampaHey) April 26, 2024
It was needed & their best option.
What they do next is most intriguing.— Mat Germain (@Mat_Germain_) April 26, 2024
However, this X user might have the best comparison I’ve seen yet when talking about Barton;
Toyota Camry of picks. Not flashy but will do its job well for a decade plus.

Then, there were a few people that weren’t thrilled – and I highly recommend you watch the video in the second tweet if you want a real good laugh;

I know someone who is not happy with it.https://t.co/fsU02qTtST

With needs still at edge rusher, wide receiver, running back, cornerback, safety, and linebacker the Bucs are in great shape to let the board fall to them on night two. Keep in mind, the second day of the draft is where Jason Licht has done a lot of his damage as a general manager. Besides former Bucs like Ali Marpet, Mike Edwards, and Carlton Davis who were big contributors over the last few years, these are some of the day two players still on the team that play huge roles – Chris Godwin, Antoine Winfield Jr., Jordan Whitehead, Jamel Dean, Rachaad White, Cody Mauch, Luke Goedeke, YaYa Diaby, and although he wasn’t a Jason Licht pick don’t forget that Lavonte David was a day two selection.
The Bucs currently have picks 57 (second round), 89, and 92 (both third round) giving them four picks in the top 100.
