Iga Swiatek and Aryna Sabalenka qualified for the quarterfinals at the Mutua Madrid Open 2023. The Pole had some difficulties against Ekaterina Alexandrova, beaten 6-4 6-7 (3) 6-4. Swiatek will play against Petra Martic, who beat Barbora Krejcikova 6-3 7-6 (1).
Sabalenka eliminated the very young new tennis star Mirra Andreeva 6-3 6-1. The winner of the 2023 Australian Open will now face Mayar Sherif (first Egyptian tennis player to reach this milestone – ed.). Sherif beat Elise Mertens 6-4 0-6 6-4.
Paula Badosa eliminated by Maria Sakkari, who will face Irina-Camelia Begu in the quarterfinals. Jessica Pegula beat Martina Trevisan, and now she will face Veronika Kudermetova. Kudermetova beat her countrywoman Daria Kasatkina 7-5 1-6 7-6 (2) in the Russian derby.

Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas qualified to the 4th round of the Mutua Madrid Open 2023. The Russian defeated Alexander Shevchenko 4-6 6-1 7-5. There will be another derby for him, as his opponent in the round of 16 will be Aslan Karatsev. The Russian beat Alex de Minaur, with the score of 6-3 4-6 6-4.
Stefanos Tsitsipas had to struggle to pass the Argentine Sebastian Baez. The Greek won 7-5 3-6 6-3 and in the round of 16 they will face the Spanish Bernabe Zapata Miralles, who defeated Roman Safiullin 6-3 3-6 6-3.
Taylor Fritz defeated Cristian Garin 6-1 7-6 (4) and will now face Zhizhen Zhang, who sensationally won against Cameron Norrie, 2-6 7-6 (2) 7-6 (2). Pedro Cachin defeated Frances Tiafoe, and now he will face Jan-Lennard Struff. The German defeated Serbian Dusan Lajovic 6-7 (3) 6-3 6-3.
