Wednesday Cheese Curds: Packers hopeful about returning tight end duo

A healthy Musgrave-Kraft combo gives the Packers exciting options.

Last season, Packers’ rookie tight end Luke Musgrave had shown glimpses of his potential before going down with a lacerated kidney and missing extended time.

The injury forced a fellow rookie tight end, Tucker Kraft, into the spotlight. It was a steep learning curve, but it wasn’t long before Kraft established himself as another useful pass-catching option.

For some coaches in Green Bay, it was eye-opening. For others, it confirmed an optimistic view of what the two tight ends could do on the field together.

Now, with Musgrave fully healthy and Kraft hopefully recovered soon from a torn pectoral, coaches will certainly look for ways to get both players on the field at the same time. Looking forward, Packers tight end coach John Dunn said a Musgrave and Kraft duo “are great weapons, because they can wear a bunch of different hats, and defenses have to match that.” He added, “I think it will be fun to see that.”

For what it’s worth, so do I.
