Toulouse crushes Rodez and goes to the semi-finals

After the elimination of Grenoble in Lyon on Tuesday evening (2-1) and the expected trip from Annecy to Marseille this Wednesday (9 p.m.), the third Ligue 2 team still in contention, Rodez Aveyron Football, moved 120 kilometers south-west of the city to face Toulouse FC at the Municipal Stadium, in a sort of Occitan derby. The Violets enforced logic and won quietly at home (6-1).

It took a little over half an hour for Philippe Montanier’s men to inflict a manita on his evening opponent: the Moroccan international Zakaria Aboukhlal opened the ball (5th), followed by the Dutch Branco van den Boomen (7th) and Thijs Dallinga (10th). The Franco-Algerian Fares Chaibi confirmed the ascendancy of Toulouse (21st) before the Chilean winter rookie, Gabriel Suazo, scored before the break (38th). After the break, Dallinga even offered himself a double on a penalty obtained by Chaïbi (50th). The reduction in the score of Wilitty Younoussa did not change the fate of the meeting (69th). A great success which allows Téfécé to place itself among the best attacks in Europe in 2023 (39 goals between L1 and CdF).
