Raiders’ struggled to avoid 3rd down in 2023

Yes, the Las Vegas Raiders have a long list of nuances to improve at in the 2024 NFL season.

One of those areas that needs focus is having better early-down success. The Raiders need to be more dynamic on first and second downs. They relied on third down too much last season.

This recent tweet by NFL analyst Warren Sharp shows the Raiders were ranked 22nd last season in the NFL in avoiding third down. Here is the complete list:

The list shows that possible new starting quarterback Gardner Minshew and new offensive coordinator Luke Getsy struggled in that area as well. Minshew started 13 games for the Indianapolis Colts and they were ranked 26th in this area. Getsy’s Chicago Bears were ranked 26th.

So. yes, this needs to be a focus point for this offense this season.
