“People think that when you’re successful you’re going to change, you’re going to be a different person. But my life is the same, my family is the same, I’m married to the same girl. Nothing changed,” Scheffler said at the conference. press prior to the start of the tournament, set for this Thursday with the traditional symbolic drive at 7.40 in the morning by the three legendary players: Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Tom Watson (11 Masters contemplate them: six, three and two respectively).

Scheffler has been playing extraordinary golf in the last year and regained the number one in the world with his recent victory in The Players. He had previously won in Phoenix, and was fighting for victory until the very end in both Bay Hill and the WGC Match Play.

“I don’t play to leave a legacy. But as long as they can compare you with Tiger (Woods) and the other greats, it’s good. I only come here to play in the best way. Talking about legacy is complicated, in a hundred years they will forget about me, It doesn’t matter,” he said.

“Being number 1 doesn’t give me more confidence, it’s math. Saying I’m the best is not my style, I learn a lot from others, I study the game. I just try to keep learning, improving. In the end it’s an algorithm, but being number one It’s better than number two,” he added.

He stressed Scottie that returning to Augusta is “special” and that he is prepared to face new challenges, because in these fields “there is always something different” compared to previous years. “There are always differences and you never learn everything about this field,” he said.

Finally, he considered positive that there is great competition between him, the Spanish Jon Rahm and the Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy for the number one in the world. “We are having a high level for a long time. It is a healthy competition, I hope we will continue to improve and the other guys will be motivated to catch up. It is a healthy competition for our sport,” he said.
