‘Roger Federer is an incredible guy’, says former ace

on

Roger Federer’s goodbye to tennis was one of the most emotional events in the history not only of tennis, but of sport in general. The 20-time Grand Slam winner, who said goodbye to doubles tennis playing with his friend and eternal rival Rafael Nadal, lent the International Tennis Hall of Fame his UNIQLO On clothing and shoes that he wore during the match in London. His clothes, therefore, are now on display in the museum, along with a signed copy of the letter announcing his withdrawal to the world. His clothes are in the museum along with other memorabilia and contributions Roger Federer left behind, including a hologram depicting him. “This induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame is a fitting tribute to the final chapter of an extraordinary career,” said Todd Martin, ITHF Director General. “We are extremely grateful to Roger for this generous loan and for appreciating our mission to preserve tennis history as it unfolds” The ITHF congratulates Roger on all his achievements, the example he has set for all athletes and his dedication to the history of this sport. “We know this exhibition will inspire countless fans and visitors.” By the way, the Laver Cup was a tournament started by Roger Federer and his Team8 management team to honor another tennis legend, Rod Laver. This annual event, which pits the European team against that of the Rest of the World, immediately garnered attention and, therefore, great success, with some historic doubles matches, such as the one mentioned between Nadal and Federer, but also between Djokovic and Federer. The Swiss tennis player can boast of having won 103 titles in his career, the second in history behind Jimmy Connors. In addition, the Swiss has triumphed three times in the Laver Cup of his four participations.

Haas pays tribute to King Roger

As part of an interview given to our colleagues from Eurosport Germany, Tommy Haas, who is close to Roger Federer, reminded us that Roger had human qualities well above average. “Roger is an incredible guy, on and off the court, as a friend, as a father, as a man. With him, we always have fun. He has a wonderful outlook on life and it’s wonderful to spend time with people like him. It’s amazing what Roger has accomplished, for so long and so consistently. He played as if he came from another planet, it was the period from 2004 to 2006.”
