Record five-time champion Andy Murray commits to play at Queen’s Club

Andy Murray is returning to the Queen’s Club this year, the tournament announced.

Murray, 35, is a record five-time champion at the Queen’s Club and he will be at the tournament that is taking place this year between June 19-25.

Murray’s last Queen’s victory came in 2016, when he beat Milos Raonic in the final.

“It’s always a great week at the cinch Championships, playing at The Queen’s Club with British fans. Obviously I have a lot of special memories there so I’m really looking forward to returning this year,” Murray said.

Besides Murray, there will be a lot more British players in this year’s Queen’s tournament edition as Cameron Norrie, Jack Draper, Dan Evans are also confirmed for the singles event.

Norrie, who is the top-ranked British male tennis player, achieved his best Queen’s result in 2021, when he made the final before losing to Matteo Berrettini.

“I’m delighted to be returning to The Queen’s Club for the cinch Championships this year – with such a strong looking line-up of players already, I can’t wait to join the other British guys to put on a good show for the home crowd,” Norrie said.

Murray, Norrie set to return to the Queen’s Club in 2023

The Queen’s Club is staging an ATP 500 tournament and it is widely considered one of the best tournaments on the ATP Tour from that category.

“The LTA is delighted to be able to showcase the strength in British men’s tennis across singles, doubles and wheelchair at this year’s cinch Championships, joining the most exciting player field we have had in recent memory.  The event is always a player favourite as demonstrated by winning the ATP’s 500-tournament of the year again and our team is looking forward to welcoming all the players and fans to The Queen’s Club in June,” LTA Digital and Events Director Chris Pollard said.

It remains to be seen if Murray can turn back the clock and make a really strong run at the Queen’s Club this year.
