PSG-Barça duel to sign a Manchester City player

on

PSG would covet a player from Manchester City. Barça would also be in on it.

Luis Campos

PSG are looking for a central defender capable of strengthening Christophe Galtier’s team this summer. So far, Luis Campos has failed to materialize his leads, including that of Milan Skriniar which was unsuccessful as Inter Milan refused to release him with six months left on his contract this winter.

In England, the transfer market has been in turmoil since the press learned that Manchester City centre-back Aymeric Laporte was looking to leave the English club this summer. Rumors have since swirled and, according to sports journalist Raad Kasim, PSG and FC Barcelona are the two clubs to have shown interest in the player.

Manchester City ready to facilitate his departure

Although he is no longer in the small papers of Pep Guardiola, Aymeric Laporte is a very coveted player. Manchester City are said to be willing to facilitate his departure so the player can continue his career elsewhere. This is why the two interested clubs, PSG and Barça, are said to be doing everything to convince the player to sign with them.

Barça would be particularly motivated to bring Laporte. The club would appreciate the player’s profile for a long time: he fits perfectly with Barca’s playing philosophy. With Gerard Pique gone, the club need a strong and experienced centre-back to complete their defence, and Laporte looks like the ideal candidate.

On the other side, PSG are also said to be very interested in Laporte. The Parisian club has an ambitious project and is counting on Luis Campos to attract great players to its ranks. Aymeric Laporte could be one of those stars. PSG hope their project will be attractive enough to convince the player to join the team instead of Catalonia.

The 28-year-old Spanish international (19 caps) has been with the Citizens since January 2018. The English club had paid 65 million euros to snatch him from Bilbao.
