Entry passport to England since the implementation of Brexit in January 2021, the work permit could see its obtaining being facilitated for foreign players in the months to come. According to DailyMailthe Premier League would have asked the FA (Football Association) for several relaxations regarding its allocation.

Since the exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union, transfers from abroad must indeed submit to several criteria before being approved. Each foreign player must thus reach a threshold of 15 points – based on a weighted points system taking into account the quality of the player’s championship, his number of club and selection appearances – before obtaining a work permit. The Premier League would like to lower it to 12 points and at the same time would push to allow clubs to sign players under the age of 18. In recent weeks, Chelsea have had to delay the arrival of young Brazilian Andrey Santos because of this GBE system.
