Zak Wilson plays a shot.

The final round of SBL Premier Division fixtures for 2022 saw Ormeau, BATTS and Ormesby pick up wins.

All three matches were closely fought, with North Ayrshire narrowly losing out to BATTS 4-3. Shayan Siraj got the away side on the board with a 3-0 victory against Martin Johnson. Colin Dalgleish then evened the scores as he beat Joshua Bennett in four.

Dalgleish then joined Johnson to beat Siraj and Joe Cope in the doubles. Cope bounced back immediately to level the tie as he overcame Main in three.

With three to play, Johnson and Bennett shared a back and forth five sets, with Johnson clinching it 11-8 in the fifth. Siraj won his second singles tie of the day to level once again and set up a winner takes all final game. Joe Cope put in a player of the match performance to beat Dalgleish in four (11-8, 8-11, 11-5, 11-9) and give BATTS their second victory of the season so far.

Ormeau also made it two wins from the opening three rounds, enough to put them on top of the table, as they beat Fusion 4-3. The Northern-Irish side fought back from 3-2 down to ultimately take the win.

Matt Ware beat Ryszard Pelc in four to get the tie underway before Shaquille Webb Dixon levelled as he beat Zak Wilson, also in four. Ware and Wilson beat Dixon and Robert Pelc comfortably in the doubles (11-2, 11-4, 11-4). Pelc was straight back in action as he beat Jonathan moody in four and make it 2-2 overall.

Player of the match Shaquille Webb Dixon and Matt Ware then shared an incredibly tense match, Dixon managing to get over the line 12-10 in the fifth to put Fusion just one game away from a hard fought victory away from home.

Jonathan Mooney started the Ormeau comeback as he beat Ryszard Pelc in three to set up a winner-takes-all final clash. It took an enormous effort for Zak Wilson to beat a valiant Robert Pelc in five including a dramatic 18-16 in the second.

David McBeath made a scintillating start to his Ormesby career as he inspired his new club to a 6-1 victory over Urban. The England international beat James Hamblett for the loss of only 12 points (5, 3 , 4) to put the hosts ahead, but Connor Green restored parity with a four-game victory over Ben Piggott.

McBeath and Tom Rayner then teamed up to take the doubles against Green & Felix Thomis in three, and thereafter Ormesby never relinquished their lead.

The final score of 6-1 was a little flattering as, McBeath’s 11-3, 11-7, 11-3 victory over Green aside, the remaining matches were closely contested.

Rayner beat Thomis in four and the final two matches both went the distance and saw Ormesby players come from 2-1 down to win 3-2 in all-teenage battles.

Rayner defeated Hamblett 11-4, 7-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-7 and Piggott overcame Thomis 9-11, 12-10, 10-12, 11-9, 11-8 to put a gloss on the result for Ormesby.
