OL: Boateng responds to departure rumors

While rumors have been evoking for several days the end of the adventure between the German and OL, Jérôme Boateng announced his intentions during a press conference held on Monday.

Jerome Boateng, Lyon

Will Jérôme Boateng end the season with Olympique Lyonnais? To know the answer to this question, we will probably have to wait until the end of January. Information not to be overlooked, however, the first interested party intends to complete his contract with the Rodhan club. As a reminder, this will end in June 2023.

48 hours from the resumption match of the Reds and Blues against Brest after the break due to the World Cup, the central defender answered questions from journalists this afternoon and the native of Berlin was clear about his intentions. “Pno one from the club talked about it with me (about my possible transfer Editor’s note) or my adviser”thus informed the 2014 world champion with our colleagues from RMC.

To support his remarks, the 34-year-old player also pointed out that he had found playing time since “Laurent Blanc is his trainer” and “Things are going very well” for him. The former PSG coach seems to have put his trust in the former Bayern Munich manager since he settled on the Gones bench (4 starts in 5 games).

In recent days, a rumor had however agitated the social networks. Foot Mercato claimed in fact that the leaders of OL intended to separate from the German during the winter transfer window. This operation would have made it possible to relieve the finances of the club by saving a salary which weighs heavily in the Lyon treasury. The other objective would be to make way for a younger player to prepare the future central hinge of OL.
