MLS offers his own club to Messi!

With Lionel Messi yet to commit his future with Paris Saint-Germain, MLS could be his next step, with bold plans to facilitate a deal.

Lionel Messi’s contract runs out at the end of the 2022/23 season and rumors have it that the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner may want to leave the French capital. Suddenly, the MLS seeks to put the grapple on the winner of the World Cup.

Inter Miami are seen as the big favorites to land the Argentine should he decide to join MLS. However, the main obstacle to signing the World Cup winner could be the financial restrictions imposed on MLS clubs.

Commissioner Don Garber has hinted that to sign Messi the league would have to get creative. One of the possibilities discussed is to follow Beckham’s path: sign the player on a relatively low salary and give him the opportunity to create a club for an extremely low price, as the former England captain did with the Inter Miami, whose value today is estimated at $600 million.

Play it like Beckham

The former Manchester United legend arrived in MLS with a salary of only 30 million euros for five seasons, but he was given the opportunity to create his own franchise for a sum of 25 million euros, that’s how that Inter Miami came into existence.

The Argentinian is spoiled for choice for his future as the end of his contract approaches: renew with PSG, join FC Barcelona or go to the United States.
