Jim Harbaugh apparently LOVES Justin Herbert. Is that enough to coax him from the college ranks?

On Monday, ESPN’s Mike Greenberg made an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show to discuss any all things currently happening in the NFL and to the surprise of Charger fans, he had a VERY interesting anecdote to share with the rest of the panel on the show.

Greenberg began recalling a chance meeting with Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh roughly a year and a half ago where the two ran into each other at a funeral of a mutual acquaintance. Of course, the two got to chatting and without any setting up from Greenberg on the subject, Harbaugh reportedly spoke for “five minutes” on how he believes Justin Herbert is the best of all the talented, young quarterbacks in the NFL. Even over the likes of Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow. Greenberg prefaced all of it with the notion that the topic of a NFL head coach vacancy nor him leaving Michigan for any reason did not come up beforehand. This was simply how their conversation organically played out.

For the full clip, you can watch it right here:

Greenberg went on to say that he believes Harbaugh will NOT be back at Michigan in 2024 simply based on everything he’s heard in recent months along with the potential for even more red tape coming down from the NCAA regarding all the potential violations and other things the program has endured this season. Harbaugh missed six games in total due to the NCAA’s investigations, including the first three and the final three of the regular season.

Knowing all of this, it’s not hard to also agree that Harbaugh is likely ready and itching to make the jump back to the NFL. He’s won three-straight Big Ten titles and he now has a chance to win the CFP National Championship with Michigan earning the No. 1 seed in the CFP playoff.

Regardless of how this current season ends at Michigan, you can expect to have Harbaugh’s name tied tightly to the Chargers over the coming months.
